Sundays at Full Tilt Poker are one of the main reasons I play there. I can play all week long at other sites and never have a shot at big money, but at Full Tilt Poker (especially on Sundays), I have a chance at 6 figure prizes. I usually try to satellite into the big Sunday tournaments, but sometimes its fun to just buy-in and go for it. Here are some of the Sunday tournaments that they run at Full Tilt Poker.
The Sunday Brawl
This tournament starts at 14:00 ET (19:00 GMT) and has a guaranteed prize pool of $350,000. It has a direct buy-in of $240+16, and $40 of it goes to the bounty on each players head. The Sunday Brawl is a knockout tournament, where you get $40 for each player you knock out. So, even if you don’t make the money, but knock out a few players along the way the tournament doesn’t cost you much. If you do make the money, you’ll have a shot at some big cash. The top prize for the Sunday Brawl is usually over $90,000.
Super satellites for the Sunday Brawl start at $7.60 or just 20 Full Tilt Points. The regular satellites can be played for $50+5. The regular satellites aren’t that hard to qualify for, where roughly one player for every 5 1/2 wins a seat into the Sunday Brawl.
You may or may not agree with my strategy for this tournament, but I’ll tell you what it is anyway, maybe it’ll help you a bit. I try to play as patiently as I can early on and wait for real hands and for short stacks to develop. The benefit is that later you can go after the short stacks and try to knock out players without having to risk too much of your stack. If you can pick of some chips when you have big hands, and knock out a few players along the way, you’re generally in good shape for later in the tournament. As you get closer to the money, it will be clear that certain players are just trying to limp into the money. Steal their blinds whenever possible, and if they come in for big money all of a sudden, beware that they finally have a big hand that they’re willing to commit their stack to.
$750K Guaranteed
The $750k Guaranteed is the biggest tournament Full Tilt Poker holds on a weekly basis. Starting at 18:00 ET (23:00 GMT), the $750K Guaranteed is the second largest weekly tournament anywhere online. The top prize is usually over $130k, and anyone making the final table can generally figure on making at least $7,000.
Players can buy-in directly to the $750k Guaranteed for $216, or satellites start at $2.25 or 300 Full Tilt Points. Although I have yet to cash for any big money in the $750k Guaranteed myself, my best friend made the final table for something like $22,000 a few months ago…the bastard.
One Sunday per month, the $750,000 Guaranteed has a direct buy-in of $535 and has a $1 million guarantee. More about the $750K Guaranteed.
The Sunday Mulligan
The Sunday Mulligan has a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000 and a direct buy-in of $216. It starts every Sunday at 19:05 ET (00:05 GMT), and the top prize is nearly $60,000 most weeks.
Double Deuce
The Double Deuce at Full Tilt Poker starts at 16:22 ET (21:22GMT) every Sunday and has a really small buy-in of $22. For a tournament with this much money up for grabs, the buy-in is really low. Of course the tournament field is larger than the others, but smart play against weaker players can help good players get giant stacks and make the money fairly easily. The top prize for the Double Deuce is over $30,000.
Satellite tournaments for the Double Deuce start as low as $.60, or 200 Full Tilt Points.
Beyond these Sunday tournaments at Full Tilt Poker, there are still others. Sunday is the big day, so if you have Sundays off and some money to play poker with, check out the Sunday Tournaments at Full Tilt Poker.
