While players can buy-in directly to this tournament, it’s a lot cheaper to win a seat through a satellite tournament. Satellites for this event are running now, and cost as little as $1 or 50 Full Tilt Points to enter. If you’re full of money, you can buy-in directly to this event for $535.
There are also $26 and $75 satellite tournaments for this event for those of you who want a simpler shot at winning a seat. These satellites are available in regular speed and turbo formats.
Main Event Shootout Tournaments
Running from now until June 21st, 2009, Full Tilt Poker is running two satellites per day for Main Event seats in what they call the Main Event Shootout. The Main Event Shootout has a direct buy-in of $216, or satellites for these tournaments can be played for as little as $1 or 50 Full Tilt Points.
The structure for the Main Event Shootout is pretty cool. They each have 81 players in total, for nine tables with nine players each. Each table plays down to a single winner, then the winners of each individual table play each other at a final table. The winner of the final table wins a $12,000 WSOP Main Event seat, plus $2,000 in cash.
Free Seats For the 2009 WSOP
In what they’re calling the Race to the Main Event, Full Tilt Poker is giving away 50 seats to the 2009 Main Event completely free.
